Why did we start Qurious?
2019 was a difficult year for Hong Kong and then we were hit with 2020 and its special guest, Covid-19. Life has been and continues to be, challenging. Feeling a little untethered, unsure of the future, and somewhat helpless Cheryl and I found ourselves reminiscing about happier, lighter times.
Rather than sit back and wait for the “new normal” or for things to “get better”, we wanted to create a new opportunity. More than that, we wanted our venture to be meaningful, positive, and generate good vibes. We, you see, and many around us were in desperate need of some good vibes.
Cheryl and I spoke at length about the things we enjoy including past travels to various locations (we’re lucky to have traveled for work and for holidays) and our shopping sprees on those travels.
We’re both self-confessed shoppers and the vague idea of doing something retail related has been swirling around in our heads for the last few years. With border closures and Covid keeping everyone indoors most of the time (and with various articles declaring the exponential growth of e-commerce!) we decided it was now or never.
So we committed, and Qurious was born.
